Gift of Warmth provides winter attire for needy

Story tools:

Thousands of people who visited M&T Bank branches in recent months deposited more than just cash and payroll checks.

They also deposited hats, mittens, scarves and other winter attire, leaving the new items in drop-off boxes located at all branch locations. The effort was part of the Gift of Warmth Collection organized by the Salvation Army.

More than 4,000 winter items were collected in November and December. The drive began Nov. 2 at Ralph Wilson Stadium prior to a Bills game against the New York Jets.

M&T Bank has sponsored the Gift of Warmth for more than two decades. The Salvation Army will hold a ceremony Monday to thank M&T and donors who supplied winter attire for needy individuals.
