Dec. 15

• A Niagara Falls woman told city police she had parked in the Seneca Casino lot on Sixth Street between noon and 6:30 p. m. and returned to find her side window smashed, a global positioning system, DVD player, $350 worth of clothing and $5 in cash stolen. Total loss and damages were estimated at just over $1,000.

• Ernest W. Ganshaw, 36, of Riverview Avenue, Wilson, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and failure to signal after being stopped by Lockport police at 9:51 p. m. on Gooding Avenue.

• Jonathan Johnson, 20, of Peckham Street, Buffalo, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance at 9:35 p. m. on Lincoln Avenue in Lockport after Lockport police said he sold an undisclosed amount of crack cocaine to an undercover Niagara County Drug Task Force agent. Bail was set at $10,000 in Lockport City Court on Dec. 16, and he was sent to Niagara County Jail.

Dec. 16

• An Appleton woman told sheriff’s deputies that her daughter’s boyfriend took her vehicle, a 2002 Ford Expedition, overnight and also took $436 out of her checking account and $2,218 from her saving’s account.

Dec. 17

• Tyra C. Jones, 37, of Eighth Street, was charged by Niagara Falls police with felony third-and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance following a search of her residence by narcotics detectives and the Emergency Response Team between 9:46 and 11:20 p. m. Police said they found a clear baggy with five grams of suspected crack cocaine and a digital scale.

• Gregory Harris, 40, of Falls Street, was charged by Niagara Falls police with menacing and resisting arrest at 10:23 p. m. after barricading himself in an apartment in the 400 block of 19th Street with a large hunting knife and several pit bulls, according to a report.

• A 40-year-old Sanborn man told Niagara Falls police that sometime in the past three weeks stole two industrial batteries worth $423 from his wheel loader while it was parked in a lot in the 1000 block of Portage Road.

• Devan A. Hicks, 18, of Center Avenue, Niagara Falls, was charged by city police with stealing from his employer at Auto Zone at 2812 Pine Ave. over a period of several months. Hicks was charged with felony grand larceny and pleaded not guilty in City Court after store security said they saw him hand $1,221 in merchandise to a man and allow him to leave the store without paying on Dec. 6. Police said Hicks also took $500 in cash by filing false returns. Hicks posted bail of $250.

Dec. 18

• Joseph C. DeCarlo III, 25, of Hartland Road, was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right by sheriff’s deputies at 3:54 a. m. on Seaman Road near Carmen Road in Hartland. Hartland Volunteer firefighters said DeCarlo was found unresponsive and appeared to have driven his truck off the road.

• Gary A. Freischlag, 39, of Chestnut Road, Wilson, was charged by Lockport police with assault and menacing at 8:21 p. m. on Allen Street. An Allen Street woman told police Freischlag was moving out, they got into an argument and he ripped a bag from her hands, pushed her down, forced her against a wall and pushed her to the floor, which caused her to sprain her wrist, bruise her ribs and sprain her ankle, police said.

Dec. 19

• Thomas N. Sullivan, 19, of South Quaker Road, Gasport, was charged by sheriff’s deputies with operating an unregistered snowmobile and unlawful possession of marijuana on Ridge Road in Gasport. Deputies said the sled has to stay off the roadway, and Sullivan was found with a metal pipe that is commonly used to smoke marijuana.

• Nothing was taken after someone forced their way into a 17th Street home about 3 p. m., Niagara Falls police reported. A rear door was forced open to gain entry to the home, resulting in about $150 damage.

Dec. 20

• A Willow Avenue woman told Niagara Falls police that a female visitor to her home stole her wallet out of a backpack. The wallet contained at least $150 in cash and some debit cards.

Dec. 21

• Niagara Falls police detectives were looking into an incident at the A. J. Wright store on Niagara Falls Boulevard. Store officials reported that some members of an employee’s family recently redeemed some store gift certificates inappropriately, in effect stealing $158 from the store.

Dec. 22

• Two snowblowers were stolen in two separate incidents in the City of Niagara Falls. A 20th Street man said his snowblower, valued at $100, was in the front yard of his home in the 400 block. Another snowblower theft was reported by a Lies Avenue man from his home in the 6000 block. That snowblower was valued at $800.

• A city woman told Niagara Falls police that a man punched her in the back of the head 10 or 15 times and broke her cell phone. The 31-year-old Forest Avenue woman told police that they got into an argument and she fled her home with a large cut on her eye brow and a bump on her forehead, which was treated at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.

• David P. McCollum Jr., 24, of Young Street, Wilson, was charged with breaking into a Hess Road home in Newfane and found in possession of hypodermic needles when stopped by sheriff’s deputies at 10:36 p. m., reports said. He also was charged with third-degree burglary, criminal mischief and petit larceny. Deputies said the Hess Road man reported a broken window, coins missing and beer missing from his refrigerator. McCollum admitted to taking the coins and beer and was found with eight hypodermic needles, which he said he used for injecting illegal narcotics, deputies said.

• Jermaine S. Copeland, 27, of Ninth Street, Niagara Falls, was charged with driving while intoxicated, speeding and disorderly conduct at 10:20 p. m. at Portage and Niagara streets. Niagara Falls police said they could feel the bass at least 100 feet away and said Copeland was traveling 40 mph on snow-covered roads. Copeland threw cups of alcohol out of the vehicle when police put sirens on and became angry and started yelling when he was stopped, according to police reports.

• Anthony J. Allee, 18, of East Avenue, Lockport, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and unlawfully dealing with a minor, following an investigation by Lockport police Detective Travis Mapes. Mapes said the victim gave Allee electronics as payment for marijuana from October through December.

• Candice G. Gerard, 21, of Robinson Road, Lockport, was arrested on Washburn Street by Lockport police who charged her with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, inadequate headlights, failing to change the address on her license and driving without insurance.

• Mark F. Sewar, 52, of Tudor Lane, Lockport, was charged by city police with identity theft. Detective John Yotter said that on April 28, Sewar, a door-to-door salesman for KR Communications, wrote down a neighbor’s Visa card information on a satellite television sales contract for a third person who lacked a credit card. On Nov. 8, the neighbor alleged, a $175 purchase was made on his credit card without his knowledge, and Yotter accused Sewar of making the transaction.

Dec. 23

• Ariel A. R. Garland, 27, of Royal Parkway South, Lockport, was charged with driving while intoxicated just after midnight on Price Street. Lockport police said she lost control of her vehicle and hit a utility pole.

• Christopher A. Santiago, 27, of 20th Street, Niagara Falls, was charged with second-degree criminal contempt of court by Lockport police, who accused him of violating an order of protection by making 23 phone calls to a Lockport woman July 16.

• Jeffrey K. Sidebottom, 29, of Lockport-Olcott Road, Newfane, was charged by Lockport police with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, failure to signal a turn and unreasonable speed. Passenger Josephine

L. Windnagle, 47, of Mill Street, Lockport, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was placed in the back seat of a patrol car while officers were dealing with Sidebottom, and an officer said she shoved two small baggies of alleged cocaine under the seat.

• Renee S. Roberts, 34, of LeVan Avenue, Lockport, was stopped on Washington Street in that city and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and failure to signal a turn.

• Carolyn A. Ross, 28, of Michigan Street, Lockport, was charged by city police with petit larceny. She allegedly took $5 from another woman’s purse in Taboo, a Main Street restaurant, on Dec. 18.

Dec. 24

• A Linwood Avenue woman told Niagara Falls police that someone stole a leather bag containing $300 worth of hand tools from the basement of her home sometime earlier in the week. The stolen items belonged to a Michigan Avenue man doing renovation work at the home.

• Sometime between Nov. 7 and Dec. 4, some items were stolen from a Welch Avenue home, and the victim told Niagara Falls police he believes his landlord may be responsible. While the victim was away, someone went into his apartment and took a camel knife and another knife, along with a Crown Royal jacket. The stolen items were valued at $505.

• Sometime between 9:30 a. m. and 4 p. m. the rear hatchback window was shot out of a vehicle parked in an alley off the 400 block of 19th Street, Niagara Falls police said. The 2006 Chevrolet belonged to a 19th Street man and sustained an estimated $200 damage, police reported.

• A 42-year-old Ninth Street woman was punched, slapped and choked by her boyfriend following an 8 p. m. argument between the two, Niagara Falls police said. The woman said she has been victimized numerous times by the man. She was not seriously injured.

• Tracy A. O’Hara, 38, of Willowbrook Drive, Lockport, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance in connection with a July 2 incident in which she was found sitting in a pickup truck outside the Chestnut Street Laundromat and city police found an alleged crack pipe in her shirt pocket. The resulting arrest warrant was executed when O’Hara was a passenger in a car pulled over for a traffic violation.

• Selena Jones Berrier, 52, of Bright Street, Lockport, was arrested by city police in the Moose Lodge, 204 Monroe St., and charged with second-degree harassment. Berrier allegedly threw a glass and a can of beer at the head of her live-in boyfriend, Frank L. Weaver.

• Jerry E. Nichols, 55, of Freeman Road, Medina, was arrested on High Street in Lockport and slated for extradition to Allegheny County, Pa., to face warrant charges there.

• A snowblower valued at $150 was reported stolen from the home of Frank A. Maser on Pheasant Run in the Woodlands Mobile Home Park, Lockport, sheriff’s deputies said.

• Amy M. Herman of Knowlesville reported her purse, containing five credit cards, was stolen from her locked vehicle by a thief who smashed its window outside the Bon Ton store on South Transit Road, Lockport.

Dec. 25

• AK-9 tracking team from the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office helped Lockport police chase down a burglary suspect shortly before 5 a. m. in the Spalding Street area. A 37-year-old man was arrested and fought with police while being taken into custody. His name was not immediately released.

Dec. 26

• A Crescent Drive man faces a driving while intoxicated charge stemming from his 6:21 p. m. arrest, Niagara Falls police said. Police said that David C. Barrette, 31, hit a parked car in the 2900 block of Porter Road.

• John C. Barber, 67, of Niagara Avenue, Niagara Falls, was arrested at 9:35 p. m. at Centre Avenue and 13th Street, Niagara Falls police said. Barber was charged with driving while intoxicated and restricted use of alcohol in public. Police said he was found asleep behind the wheel of his running car, with two open beer cans inside. He was found to have a blood-alcohol content of 0.12 percent, police said.

• Christopher D. Carter, 18, of C Street, Niagara Falls, was charged by city police with false personation. He allegedly gave a false name to avoid arrest on outstanding warrants.

Dec. 27

• A hit-and run driver rear-ended a car after running a stop sign at 17th Street and Whitney Avenue about 12:30 a. m., Niagara Falls police said. The victim, a Jordan Garden resident, was not hurt, but his car sustained some damage. Police are tracking down a license plate which fell off the offending vehicle in the accident.

• A fight at Clancy’s tavern on Pine Avenue in Niagara Falls left a Falls Street man with a gash to the back of his head, city police said. The 26-year-old victim refused to cooperate with police investigating the incident, prompting them to close their investigation.

• An estimated $100 damage was done at All Saints Catholic Church, 76 Church St., Lockport, when someone tried to pry the old St. Patrick’s Church sign off the building, Lockport police said.

Dec. 28

• Thomas B. Brown, 33, of Fifth Street, Niagara Falls, was charged by Lockport police with second-degree assault in connection with an alleged attack at 8:50 p. m. Dec. 27 on Washburn Street. The victim, Arnold L. Tillotson, was bodily picked up after an argument with Brown and dropped onto the pavement, after which Brown allegedly kicked him several times in the head and body in the middle of the street, police said. Tillotson was taken to Erie County Medical Center by Mercy Flight, but was released the next day, ECMC officials said.

• Christopher L. Perham, 18, of Washburn Street, Lockport, was charged with second-degree criminal impersonation. Lockport police said that during an investigation of a fight on Washburn Street, he gave a false name to avoid arrest on Niagara Falls warrants.

• A 16-year-old Lockport youth was charged with petit larceny and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Lockport police accused him of taking a rack of lighters from the Wilson Farms store at High and South Transit streets. They were found in the back seat of a car at High and Cottage streets. E. Bell Jr., 26, of East High Street, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.

• Michael R. O’Connor, 18, of Fairfield Avenue, Buffalo, was arrested on South Transit Street in Lockport by city police and charged with driving while intoxicated, running a red light, running a stop sign and unlawful possession of marijuana.

• Casillas D. Moldonado, 25, of St. Lawrence Street, Buffalo, made a quick turn from South Transit Street onto Gaffney Road in Lockport, apparently to avoid a police checkpoint. City police pulled him over, found he lacked a valid license, and charged him with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

Dec. 29

• Justin M. Kane, 19, of Walnut Street, Lockport, was charged with underage possession of alcohol on Market Street, when a Lockport officer saw him place a plastic bag next to to a utility pole. The bag contained an open 22-ounce bottle of beer.

• Lockport police charged two men with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation in separate arrests. Brian Hunt, 45, of East Hazeltine Avenue, Kenmore, was arrested on West Avenue after allegedly running a red light, and Justin A. Jackson, 20, of Heritage Point, Lockport, was stopped on South Transit Street.
