Maziarz hails signing of green building grants
State Sen. George D. Maziarz announced Tuesday that Gov. David A. Paterson has signed a green residential building grant program into law.
Maziarz, R-Newfane, sponsored the law, designed to encourage compliance with green building standards established by the State Energy Research and Development Authority.
Both chambers of the Legislature passed the bill unanimously in June.
The Energy Research and Development Authority, which will administer the program, will determine eligibility standards, application procedures and award levels for the grants. Revenues collected by the authority will cover program costs, which will not affect the state budget.
