KITE FESTIVAL: The Niagara International Kite Festival takes wing next weekend along the Niagara Gorge. Friday, kite fliers will attempt to re-create the 1848 Homan Walsh kite contest, connecting the U. S. and Canada with a kite string in the “Arch of Kites,” 11 a. m. to 4 p. m., between Prospect and Terrapin points in Niagara Falls State Park and Table Rock in Niagara Falls, Ont. Fireworks start at 10 p. m. over Terrapin Point. The festival continues with kite flying, workshops and vendors in Reservoir State Park, Routes 31 and 265, Lewiston, from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. Saturday and 11 a. m. to 5 p. m. Sunday.
