Rochester man indicted on four drug counts

Story tools:

LOCKPORT — A Rochester man who turned down a plea offer several months ago was arraigned Wednesday in Niagara County Court on a four-count drug indictment.

Sherman E. Carson, 35, was arrested March 7 in a police raid on an apartment in Urban Park Towers on Main Street in Lockport. He pleaded not guilty to third-, fifth-and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Police found 1.68 grams of cocaine in the apartment of Doretha A. King, 24, who pleaded guilty in April to attempted fifth-degree possession. However, her sentencing is delayed while Assistant District Attorney Peter M. Wydysh tries to win permission from Judge Matthew J. Murphy III to revoke her plea bargain. Wydysh contends that King’s subsequent testimony against Carson was not as full as he would have liked.
