Grandparent’s Day

Grandparents, parents and grandchildren are welcome to celebrate Grandparent’s Day at the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum. Events include Herschell Carrousel Bingo and a ride on the authentic Allan Herschell No. 1 Special Carousel, 12:30 to 3:30 p. m., at the museum, 80 Thompson St., North Tonawanda. Owen the Juggler will also will be on hand. Adults, $5; senior citizens, $4. Grandchildren are free when they accompany their grandparents.

Show for the dogs

Join breeders and dog lovers for the Kennel Club of Niagara Falls’ Rainbow Classic dog show, which includes canine obedience trials and vendors selling dog-related items, 8 a. m. to 5 p. m., Cambria Fire Hall, 4631 Cambria-Wilson Road. Admission to the event is free, but parking is $3. The event continues through Sunday, with a chicken barbecue beginning at noon Saturday.

Falls gets the blues

The inaugural Niagara Falls Blues Festival — a Silver Memorial Tribute to Muddy Waters, runs from 1 to 11 p. m. on Third Street between Main and Niagara streets. The event, held under tents if it rains, includes jazz greats like the Downchild Blues Band, Jimmy Thackery & the Drivers, Rockin’ Jake from New Orleans and many other groups. Vendors will sell food and drinks at the free event.

Drinking and riding

The owners of Spring Lake Winery have organized a Wine Train tour, starting at 10 a. m. at Michigan Street and Park Avenue, Lockport, and traveling to Medina. Enjoy a continental breakfast on board and take a tour of the Medina Railroad Museum, then travel back to the winery for lunch, a glass of wine and live entertainment. Adults, $39; children, $20.
