Lockport
The Common Council will meet at 6 p. m. Wednesday in the Municipal Building, One Locks Plaza. Public hearings are scheduled on a new city sign ordinance, a historic preservation ordinance, a local hiring policy for public works projects and a change in sewer rates that shifts the use of the funds to the water budget without increasing residents’ bills.
Town of Niagara
The Town Board will hold a work session at 7 p. m. Thursday in Town Hall, 7105 Lockport Road.
Niagara County
The County Legislature will meet at 7 p. m. Tuesday in the Courthouse, Park Avenue and Hawley Street, Lockport. A resolution affirming a desire to reduce the size of the Legislature from 19 members to 11 is expected to be on the agenda, along with a $6.7 million borrowing for construction projects and equipment purchases and creation of a Medicaid fraud specialist position. Also this week:
• The County Legislature Community Safety and Security Committee will meet at 5:30 p. m. Wednesday in the Warren J. Rathke Public Safety Training Facility, 5574 Niagara St. Extension, Lockport.
Niagara Falls
The Niagara County Industrial Development Agency will hold a public hearing at 4 p. m. Wednesday in City Hall, 745 Main St. The hearing will focus on a proposal to create a payment- in-lieu-of-taxes schedule for a planned Comfort Inn & Suites at 9900 Niagara Falls Blvd. Also this week:
• The Housing Authority board of commissioners will meet at 4 p. m. Tuesday at 744 10th St., Niagara Falls.
• The Historic Preservation Commission will meet at 5 p. m. Wednesday in
North Tonawanda
The Common Council will meet at 6 p. m. Tuesday in City Hall, 216 Payne Ave. A public hearing on the 2009 city budget will follow at 7.
Pendleton
The Town Board will meet at 8 p. m. Tuesday in Town Hall, 6570 Campbell Blvd. Also this week:
• The Planning Board will hold a work session at 7 p. m. Thursday in Town Hall.
Porter
