Woman ousted from camp is a suspect in burglary
BARKER — A woman who was asked to leave an area campsite is considered a suspect in a Saturday burglary of a Johnson Creek Road home, Niagara County sheriff’s deputies said.
The woman was last seen in a bar near the burglary site, possessing jewelry and a knife that may have been taken from the home, said deputies, adding that the woman was trying to get a ride home to Cheektowaga.
Hunting and collector’s knives were stolen from the home during a break-in between 9:45 a. m. and 5:30 p. m. Also stolen were several articles of gold and costume jewelry, including a wedding ring, about $100 in cash and some hydrocodone pills.
The woman had been visiting friends at a campsite at Kamp Katie, but was asked to leave after becoming intoxicated and uncontrollable, deputies said.
