Paterson signs measure on Underground Railroad
Gov. David A. Paterson signed a bill Wednesday to establish a 13-member commission that will develop a plan to create an Underground Railroad heritage area in Niagara Falls.
The commission will develop a plan to preserve and restore historic and cultural landmarks in Niagara Falls that highlight the city’s historical significance as one of the last stops for slaves fleeing to freedom in Canada.
Assemblywoman Francine Del- Monte, D-Lewiston, sponsored the legislation.
