LOCKPORT — The Falls Road Railroad Co. is slated to receive $950,000 to rehabilitate the famous “upside down” railroad bridge over the Erie Canal, State Sen. George Maziarz, R-Newfane, announced Tuesday.

The funding is part of the 2007-08 round of awards made through the Passenger and Freight Rail Assistance Program, which is administered by the state Department of Transportation, Maziarz said.

The program funds track and bridge improvements, grade crossing eliminations and upgrades, construction of intermodal facilities and passenger service subsidies.
