Board awaits president’s return before voting on post for new term
The new Cheektowaga Central School Board looks very much like the old board — or it will as soon as it elects a president.
Although the board re-elected Diane M. Panasiewicz vice president during its annual organization meeting Tuesday night, it took no action on the position of president, currently held by Brian Gould, who was not present Tuesday night.
According to Panasiewicz, Gould has expressed an interest in the office, so the board decided to wait for his return before filling that office.
In addition, two board members, Raymond L. Carr and Walter Burgett, who were unopposed in their bid for re-election in May, were sworn in.
The board also made a number of appointments: Mary Ann Miano, district clerk; Marilyn Krawczak, district treasurer; and Lynne Schunk, deputy district treasurer. All appointments are for the 2009-10 school year.
During the regular business meeting, the board approved several additions to the school district’s Code of Conduct, including prohibiting “sexting” and tagging.
While School Superintendent Delia Bonenberger said the additions were not due to a particular incident, it was important to be specific in the code.
