LANCASTER
Flag Day ceremony, parade set at Elks Lodge
State Sen. Dale Volker, R-Depew, and the Lancaster Elks will hold a Flag Day celebration and parade at 4 p. m. Saturday at the Lancaster Elks Lodge.
Following the parade, which will begin and end at the lodge at 30 Legion Parkway, more than 50 military service men and women will be honored with an “Old Glory” ceremony at 4:30 p. m.
The ceremony also includes a presentation to a local Purple Heart recipient and a ceremonial flag burning conducted by Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to retire old and tattered American flags.
The public is encouraged to contribute old flags to the ceremonial burning, which is considered the only proper way to retire an American flag.
