Around town / Public meetings in local communities this week

Amherst

The Town Board will hold a work session at 3 p. m. Monday in the council chambers of the Amherst Municipal Building, 5583 Main St., Williamsville. Also this week:

• The Village of Williamsville board of trustees will meet at 7:30 p. m. Monday in Village Hall, 5565 Main St. The meeting will be preceded by a work session at 6 p. m.

• The Sweet Home School Board will hold its November study session at 7 p. m. Tuesday in the Vergils Community Center of Sweet Home High School, 1901 Sweet Home Road.

Boston

The Planning Board will meet at 7:30 p. m. Tuesday in Town Hall, 8500 Boston State Road.

Buffalo

The Common Council will meet at 2 p. m. Tuesday in Council Chambers on the 13th floor of City Hall. Also this week:

• The Board of Education will meet at 5:30 p. m. Tuesday in Room 801 in City Hall.

• The Council will hold its pre-meeting caucus at 2 p. m. Monday in Room 1417 of City Hall.

• The Preservation Board will meet at 3 p. m. Thursday in Room 901 of City Hall.

• The Water Board will meet at 8 a. m. Friday in Room 501 of City Hall.

Cheektowaga

The Maryvale School Board will meet at 6:30 p. m. Monday in the boardroom in the district Administration Building, 1050 Maryvale Drive.

Erie County

The Legislature’s Health and Human Services Committee meets at 8:30 a. m. Thursday on the fourth floor of Old County Hall. Also that day, the Community Enrichment Committee meets at 9:30 a. m.; the Government Affairs Committee at 10:30 a. m.; the Economic Development Committee at 11:30; and the Energy and Environment Committee meets at 1 p. m. At 5 p. m., the Legislature convenes a public hearing on the county budget proposed for 2010.

Hamburg

A forum on downsizing the Town Board from five members to three will be conducted from 7 to 9 p. m. Monday in Hamburg Middle School Auditorium, 360 Division St. Also this week:

• The Zoning Board of Appeals will meet at 7 p. m Tuesday, Room 7B in the basement of Town Hall, 6100 South Park Ave.

• The village Planning Commission will meet at 7 p. m. Tuesday in Village Hall, 100 Main St.

• The village Environmental Commission will meet at 7 p. m Wednesday in Village Hall.

• The village Traffic Safety Committee will meet at 7 p. m. Thursday in Village Hall.

Lancaster

The School Board will meet at 7 p. m. Monday in the high school auditorium, One Forton Drive.

Newstead

The Newstead Town Board will meet at 8 p. m. Monday in Newstead Fire Hall, Cummings Road. A public hearing on consolidating the town’s 11 water districts into one will precede the meeting at 7 p. m.

North Collins

The Village Board will meet at 7 p. m. Tuesday in Village Hall, 10543 Main St.

Orchard Park

The Village Board will meet at 8 p. m. Monday in the municipal center, 4295 S. Buffalo St. Also this week:

• The School Board will meet at 6 p. m. Tuesday in the district office, 3330 Baker Road. The board is expected to go into executive session to discuss the search for the new superintendent.

City of Tonawanda

The School Board will hold a regular meeting at 6:30 p. m. Tuesday at Tonawanda High School, 150 Hinds St. Also this week:

• The Common Council will hold a regular meeting at 7 p. m. Tuesday at City Hall, 200 Niagara St.

Town of Tonawanda

The Town Board meets at 7:30 p. m. Monday in council chambers at the municipal building, 2919 Delaware Ave. A work session begins at 4 in the conference room. Also this week:

• The Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda School Board meets at 7 p. m. Tuesday in the boardroom at the administration building, 1500 Colvin Blvd.
