Special programs scheduled by VA Healthcare System

The VA Western New York Healthcare System is observing Caregiver Recognition and Health Care Decision Month at its Buffalo and Batavia facilities with a variety of events for staff members and veterans’ families and caregivers.

In Buffalo, there is a lunch at 11 a. m. today with Kathy LaPress of the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care and a “Powerful Tools for Caregivers” workshop from 4 to 6:30 p. m. Next Tuesday is “Blessing of the Hands and Spiritual Reminders for Caregiving” in the VA Chapel.

Events in Batavia begin Monday with a “Caregiver Support and Health Decision Informational Fair” in the VA auditorium. More than 20 representatives from area agencies will be on hand.

Both locations will host morning and afternoon workshops on dementia, next Thursday in Buffalo, Nov. 14 in Batavia. And both will host daylong workshops on Nov. 23 in “Stress Reduction Through Massage and Visualization Techniques.”
