BUFFALO SCHOOLS

Leadership academy will take 45 students

Story tools:

Forty-five Buffalo students in seventh through ninth grades will be selected to participate in a 12-week leadership academy that will be announced today by the Buffalo Public Schools, Buffalo State College and the local chapter of the Links Inc.

Participants will receive leadership training through classroom instruction, workshops and meetings with community leaders. The activities will focus on communication skills, team building and health and wellness.

The program—called “Just Say Yes Network: Youth Empowerment for Success Leadership Institute”—will begin in late September.

Applications are due Aug. 30, but Buffalo Schools Superintendent James A. Williams stressed that enrollment is limited and urged interested students to apply quickly. Applications are available at the school district’s Web site: www.buffaloschools.org .
