Franz to be honored at Artpark picnic
Departing Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra resident conductor Robert Franz will be honored at a picnic lunch at 12:30 p. m. July 11 at Artpark in Lewiston prior to an open rehearsal of “Carmina Burana.”
Friends of the BPO will sponsor the tribute to Franz, who is leaving to become music director of the Boise Philharmonic in Idaho. He has been praised for expanding youth concerts throughout Western New York during his tenure here.
Franz will speak to picnic guests before leading the orchestra through the rehearsal. Takako Michii is luncheon chairwoman, and Sally Roy Moehlau and Joyce L. Wilson are assistant chairwomen. Call 830-8267 for more information.
