Groundbreaking held for new Habitat home
SILVER CREEK—Groundbreaking ceremonies were held Saturday morning for a new Habitat for Humanity home in Silver Creek.
Anne and Jeremy Milius and their children, Nick, Lacy and Nate, have been selected to move into the new home, which will be built at 51 Buffalo St.
It will be a single-story dwelling with three bedrooms.
The Milius family joined with local Habitat representatives, including Kathy Tampio and David Kurzawa, to throw ceremonial shovels of dirt at the site.
Tampio, who made introductions at the event, said that the walls were built by students of the Board of Cooperative Educational Services program. They will be delivered to the site and erected. Several local contractors have donated time to the project and the Christ Chapel Wesleyan Church, which is across the street from the site, has allowed storage of building materials at its site.
Valu Home Centers donated $13,640 in materials for construction.
The home is expected to be under construction throughout the summer. Volunteers gather each Saturday at 8:30 a. m. to help out.
