WASHINGTON — Here are the votes of Western New York’s four members of the House of Representatives on major legislation in Congress last week. A “Y” means the member voted for the measure; an “N” means the member voted against the measure; an “A” means the member did not vote.
There were no key votes in the Senate.
HOUSE
Adopting Rules for 111th Congress adopted the rules for the 111th Congress, sponsored by Rep. Steny Hoyer, D-Md., which include certain provisions of law and clauses added to existing legislation such as rules changes for Homeland Security and Inspector General audits and lifting term restrictions for committee chairmen.
The vote was 242 yeas and 181 nays. Rep. Brian Higgins, D-Buffalo, Y; Rep. Eric Massa, D-Corning, Y; Rep. Louise M. Slaughter, D-Fairport, Y; and Rep. Chris Lee, R-Clarence, N.
In the same session, Republicans chose Rep. John Boehner of Ohio as the House minority leader and Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia as the House minority whip. Democrats chose Rep. James Clyburn of South Carolina as the House majority whip.
