Brown in conference call with Obama team members

Story tools:

Mayor Byron W. Brown was among about 50 mayors from across the country who took part in a conference call Wednesday afternoon with members of President-elect Barack Obama’s intergovernmental transition team.

“We were certainly encouraged by [Director of Intergovernmental Affairs] Michael Stautmanis’ comment that ‘Help is on the way,’ ” Brown said, “and that the Obama administration will actively seek the nation’s mayors’ input on policy initiatives.”

Taking part in the call were members of the National Conference of Democratic Mayors, including the mayors of Philadelphia, Providence, Baltimore, Trenton, N. J., and Macon, Ga.
