GCC students market apple cider syrup

BATAVIA — Apple cider syrup may be dripping from your stack of hotcakes soon.

The product, developed and marketed by Genesee Community College’s Collegiate Entrepreneur Organization, will make its debut Tuesday in the Genesee Community College cafeteria — during a pancake breakfast.

The college’s Board of Trustees recently sampled the aptly named Scholars Brand syrup, made from a family recipe donated by a friend of the college. be Students are marketing the product to area specialty retailers.

The product received a GCC Foundation Innovation Award.
