ATV operator tells police he is too drunk to drive

Story tools:

When Erie County sheriff’s deputies stopped Jeffrey J. Schiersing after seeing him weaving his three-wheeled ATV back and forth across Genesee Street without any lights at about 2 a. m. Sunday, he told them he was driving the ATV to a bar because he was too drunk to drive a car.

After Schiersing, 40, of Buckwheat Road, Alden, failed a series of roadside sobriety tests and registered a 0.17 percent blood-alcohol content, deputies decided he also was too drunk to operate an ATV. Schiersing, who has a 2005 DWI conviction in Cheektowaga, was charged with felony DWI.
