Free, low-cost screening is available next week
Free or low-cost dental screening for children will be available next week at 35 local dental offices and the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine.
Healthy Smile Week, which runs from Monday to Oct. 11, is a pilot program organized by the UB dental school’s Department of Pediatric and Community Dentistry, the Eighth District Dental Society and Women and Children’s Hospital.
The program is in response to state legislation requiring that schools ask parents of children entering kindergarten, second, fourth, seventh and 10th grades to provide a dental health certificate verifying that they have had a dental screening.
