Counterfeit sneakers, boots seized from food mart
Ferry-Fillmore District police investigating customer trouble at a neighborhood food mart instead discovered199 pairs of counterfeit sneakers and boots late Friday, police reported Saturday.
Officers went to the French Street food mart, east of Fillmore Avenue and south of Woodlawn Avenue, to review a videotape of an incident reported by store employees. While in the upper apartment, the officers spotted 193 pairs of counterfeit Nike sneakers and six pairs of Timberland boots, according to police reports.
Police confiscated the footwear, as they continued to investigate the case of trademark counterfeiting.
