GOP to hold primaries in two towns for justice
BATAVIA — Republicans in two towns will choose justice candidates Tuesday in the only local primary contests in Genesee County.
In Batavia, Thomas D. Williams, appointed justice in March, is seeking a full four-year term. Williams, a lawyer, is opposed by Dennis M. Rider, a longtime law enforcement officer who plans to retire.
Darien Republicans will choose between Michael S. Davis, a fleet manager for a trucking company, and Richard W. Wurl, a retired truck driver. It will be Wurl’s second run for the justice post.
Genesee’s Democrats have no local primaries, but will vote in three-way contests for Congress and the State Senate.
In the Independence Party, William J. Walters is battling Michael H. Ranzenhofer for the party’s State Senate nomination.
