Youth, 16, charged in theft, sale of car to South Buffalo junkyard
A Southside Parkway teen faces charges of stealing a car, then selling it to a South Buffalo junkyard, Buffalo police said Monday.
The 16-year-old, arrested at about 5:30 p. m. Monday, was charged with felony criminal possession of stolen property and unauthorized use of a vehicle, a misdemeanor.
The teen is accused of stealing a Marbeth Court man’s 1987 Buick Century on Saturday and taking it to South Buffalo Auto Wrecking on Elk Street, where he sold it as scrap for $257.40, police said.
At the time the car was surrendered to the junkyard, a window was smashed out and the steering column was broken open, police said.
