Man says woman stole, cashed tax rebate check
A man told police today that a woman stole his $600 federal economic stimulus check from his mailbox and cashed it.
The man told Ferry-Fillmore District police that the incident happened sometime between May 30 and July
18. He said the woman stole his check, forged his name on the check and had the money deposited into her bank account.
Police said the man is acquainted with the woman, and a suspect has been identified.
Police are investigating the case as an identity theft.
