Blood-smeared car linked to domestic dispute
Police were investigating two separate incidents involving blood-smeared cars Saturday, but neither involved any serious violence.
Neighbors on Anderson Place in the Elmwood District were alarmed Saturday morning when they spotted an SUV covered in blood parked on their street.
Police tracked the source of the blood to a couple who had been involved in a domestic argument, said Chief of Detectives Dennis J. Richards. The boyfriend put his hand through a window and cut himself.
The girlfriend got into her car to flee when the man wiped his blood on the windshield. She decided against driving away, and the couple later made up. No charges were filed.
At about the same time on the East Side, residents on Moreland Street reported several cars had been broken into overnight.
One of the thieves apparently cut him or herself in the process and left blood on one of the cars, Richards said.
Crime scene technicians collected samples of the blood to be used as evidence to identify the culprit.
