Woman shot in leg on Lower West Side
A woman was shot in the leg Sunday afternoon on the city’s Lower West Side.
Buffalo police said they originally believed the shooting occurred at the McDonald’s restaurant at 390 Niagara St., at Maryland Street, but later reports about the location conflicted.
A source with knowledge of the investigation, who asked not to be identified, said the shooting actually might have happened near Pennsylvania and Seventh streets.
Interviews indicate the parties involved knew each other, the source said, and that the shooting may have resulted from a drug deal gone bad.
Michael J. DeGeorge, Buffalo police spokesman, said Nicole Roberts, 20, of Holland, was sitting in a vehicle with two other people at about 3:30 p. m. when shots rang out.
The vehicle apparently drove to Fire Headquarters on Court Street, where firefighters assisted the bloodied woman, according to fire officials. Roberts was treated in Erie County Medical Center and released.
