Clarence A. Beutel III, a Buffalo resident who was vice president of marketing at Salient Corp. in Big Flats, near Elmira, left behind a wife and two sons.
Beutel, whose nickname was Larry, lived in Buffalo but maintained an apartment in Horseheads where he stayed part of the week. He previously worked as director of marketing and product development at Outokumpu American Brass in Buffalo.
Beutel's job with Salient Corp., a computer software company that specializes in business performance management solutions, required him to visit clients around the globe.
"He's been all over the world — South America, recently to Brazil, Poland, Romania and other European countries," company president Guy Amisano told the (Elmira) Star-Gazette. "He was no stranger to air travel."
Amisano said Beutel's death represented a great personal and professional loss.
"He was a terrific colleague, with great intelligence and integrity. It definitely will be a loss to the company.
Beutel held an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Iowa State University.
