Cattaraugus County sheriff's detectives have at least partially cleared the case of an attempted robbery that saw a shot fired near a horse pulling an Amish buggy almost three weeks ago.

     Donald J. Pfaffenbach, of Edwards Corners Road, faces charges of attempted robbery and menacing, following the July 11 incident on Riga Road in the Town of Leon, sheriff's officials reported.

     Pfaffenbach is accused of displaying a handgun and demanding the Amish couple's wallet. When the couple did not hand over the wallet, he is accused of firing one round near the horse pulling the buggy.

     The suspect was sent to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $500 bail, following his arraignment in Leon Town Court.

     Detectives said more arrests are pending.
