A Machias man whose blood alcohol content was twice the legal limit for drinking and driving was charged with driving while intoxicated early today, the Erie County Sheriff's Office said.

     At about 2:15 a.m., a deputy spotted a vehicle failing to stay on the right side of the road on Route 39, just east of Route 240 in the Town of Concord.

     The deputy stopped the driver, identified as Michael McClement, 23, who the deputy believed was drunk. McClement submitted to a chemical test which determined his BAC was .16 percent.

     He was released to a third party on a traffic summons and a 12-hour hold was placed on his car.
