A Cheektowaga man was expected to undergo eye surgery after being punched in the face in the yard of a South Division Street bar late Sunday.

The victim told South District police that he was hanging out at the bar at about 11:30 p. m., when he was punched in the right side of the face by an unknown person.

He lost consciousness and later awoke at home in his bed, after a relative apparently took him home. The victim was taken to Sisters Hospital St. Joseph Campus and transferred to Erie County Medical Center.
