Man says attackers forced him to steal beer
Updated: September 4, 2010, 12:08 PM
A Town of Tonawanda man was assaulted with a broken beer bottle by two men he said forced him to steal beer from a convenience store on Clinton Street early this morning, South District police said.
The man told police that at about 12:30 a.m., two men approached him at a store in the 1800 block of Clinton and told him to steal beer for them or they would kill him. He complied and fell coming out of the store, cutting his palm. The victim then ran away to a friend's house.
The victim then returned to the scene a short time later and the same two men, possibly accompanied by a third, approached him from behind. They pressed something against his back and told him to steal beer again from the store, the victim told police.
The victim heard a bottle being smashed and then he was cut.
The victim crawled to the entrance of the store, screamed for help and then collapsed, police said. He was transported by Rural Metro to Erie County Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
