SETTING UP—An organizational meeting to form a support group for people living with Paget’s disease of bone and their family members is scheduled from 9:30 to 11:30 a. m. Saturday in the Cheektowaga Senior Center, 3349 Broadway. It’s free and open to the public.
Paget’s disease is a chronic condition that enlarges and deforms bones in various parts of the body. It mainly strikes people in middle age and older, and affects more men than women. For information, call local support group leader Anthony Frandina at 849-1483.

AMISH AUCTION—All kinds of handcrafted Amish items—furniture, quilts, ironwork, toys—will be offered at the seventh annual Amish Relief Auction beginning at 9:30 a. m. Saturday under a tent at the Empire Livestock Cherry Creek Market, 798 Pickup Hill Road, Cherry Creek.
Homestyle Amish refreshments, snacks, baked and canned goods will be available, as well as a chicken barbecue and pig roast. Proceeds will go to help needy families and to pay doctor and medical bills owed by the Conewango Valley Amish community. For info, call auctioneer Don Yahn at 296-5041. Donations can be sent or dropped off at Bank of Cattaraugus, 24 Main St., Cattaraugus.

ONLINE BID—In the running for a$250,000 grant from the Pepsi Refresh Project is Upstate New York Transplant Services. If UNYTS wins or comes in second, the money will go to buy a Donate Life Bus, a mobile bloodmobile that can accommodate up to 80 donors per blood drive. Currently, it’s 95th.
To help, visit the Pepsi Refresh Project Web site at www.refresheverything.com to cast a vote every day for the rest of the month. There are a lot of projects on the list, so it may take some searching. Finalists will be announced Sept. 1.
