Alden

The Town Board will meet at 7 p. m. Monday in Town Hall, 3311 Wende Road.

Amherst

The Sweet Home Board of Education will hold its December meeting at 7 p. m. Tuesday in the high school library, 1901 Sweet Home Road.

Aurora

The East Aurora Board of Education will meet at 6 p. m. Wednesday for an executive session followed by a regular business meeting in the Library, 430 Main St., East Aurora.

Buffalo

The Common Council will hold a regular session at 2 p. m. Tuesday in Council Chambers on the 13th floor of City Hall. Also this week:

The Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Board will meet at 5:30 p. m. Monday in Room 1417 of City Hall.

The Common Council will hold its premeeting caucus at 10 a. m. Tuesday in Room 1417 of City Hall.

Residents are invited to attend a public hearing that will focus on a proposed capital budget. The Common Council will hold the meeting at 5 p. m. Tuesday in Council Chambers on the 13th floor of City Hall.

The Preservation Board will meet at 3 p. m. Thursday in Room 901 of City Hall.

Cheektowaga

The Town Board will meet at 6:45 p. m. Monday in Town Hall, 3301 Broadway. Also this week:

The Cheektowaga-Sloan School Board will meet at 6:30 p. m. Monday in Woodrow Wilson School, 166 Halstead Ave.

Erie County

The Legislature meets at 11 a. m. Tuesday on the fourth floor of Old County Hall, 92 Franklin St., to consider overriding any of County Executive Chris Collins’ vetoes of Legislature amendments to the 2010 budget. Also this week:

The Legislature’s Health and Human Services Committee meets at 8:30 a. m. Thursday in Old County Hall. The Public Safety Committee meets at 10:30 a. m. and the Energy and Environment Committee at 12:30

At noon Thursday, the Legislature convenes a public hearing on a proposed law to provide temporary property tax breaks to homeowners who improve their residences.

Grand Island

The School Board meets at 7 p. m. Monday at Huth Road Elementary School, 1773 Huth Road. The meeting will include a discussion of a capital project proposal that was defeated by voters.

Hamburg

The Village Board will conduct a work session at 5:30 p. m. Monday, followed by a regular meeting at 7 p. m. in Village Hall, 100 Main St. Also this week:

The Town Board will hold a work session at 5:30 p. m. Monday in the first-floor conference room in Town Hall, 6100 South Park Ave.

The village Planning Commission will meet at 7 p. m. Tuesday in Village Hall.

The village Environmental Commission will meet at 7 p. m. Wednesday in Village Hall.

The village Traffic Safety Committee will meet at 7 p. m. Thursday in Village Hall.

Lackawanna

The City Council will meet at 7 p. m. Monday in Council Chambers at City Hall, 714 Ridge Road.

Lancaster

The Town Board and Planning Board will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p. m. Monday in Town Hall, 21 Cental Ave.

Marilla

The Town Board will hold a regular meeting at 7:30 p. m. Thursday in Town Hall, 1740 Two Rod Road. The board will hold a work session at 7:30 p. m. Tuesday, also in Town Hall.

North Collins

The School Board will meet at 6:30 p. m. Thursday in the Library-Media Center in the Junior-Senior High School, 2045 School St.

Orchard Park

The School Board will conduct a regular meeting at 7 p. m. Tuesday in the administration building, 3330 Baker Road. The meeting will be preceded by a 6 p. m. executive session. Also this week:

The Town Board has scheduled a work session at 5 p. m. Wednesday in the Municipal Center, 4295 S. Buffalo St., and plans a closed executive session to discuss health benefits for retirees.

The Planning Board will meet at 7:30 p. m. Wednesday in the basement meeting room in the Municipal Center.

Springville

The Concord Town Board will meet at 7 p. m. Thursday in Town Hall, 86 Franklin St.

Town of Tonawanda

The Town Board meets at 7:30 p. m. Monday in Council Chambers in the Municipal Building, 2919 Delaware Ave., Kenmore. A work session begins at 4 in the conference room. Also this week:

Polls will be open from 7 a. m. to 9 p. m. Tuesday for a public referendum on a $58 million capital project in the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda School District. Ballots may be cast at Herbert Hoover Middle School, 249 Thorncliff Road; Kenmore East High School, 350 Fries Road; and the Philip Sheridan Building, 3200 Elmwood Ave.

The Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda School Board meets at 7 p. m. Tuesday in the board room of the administration building, 1500 Colvin Blvd.
