HAMBURG HUMANITARIAN PROGRAM: The Hamburg School District will hold a program, Humanitarian Work Abroad, conducted by members of the Hamburg schools and the community at 7 p. m. Thursday in Hamburg High School, 4111 Legion Drive. The program will feature local residents who have worked in Haiti on humanitarian projects, students who spent two weeks in Zambia, and a group of school officials who traveled to Rwanda in July. The speakers will focus on globalization and its effect on developing nations and Americans. Matters of social justice and social responsibility also will be discussed.
CHRIS LEE TELEPHONE MEETING: Rep. Chris Lee, R-Clarence, will host a town hall meeting by telephone at 5:40 p. m. Thursday. On this call, constituents will receive an update on what’s going on in Congress and have a chance to ask questions on any issues of concern. RIVERKEEPER BIRTHDAY BASH: Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper will host a birthday bash to celebrate two decades of successful efforts to make the Buffalo Niagara region’s waters clean, swimable and fishable from 6 to 8 p. m. Saturday in Pearl Street Grill&Brewery, 76 Pearl St. Founding board members Rep. Brian Higgins and activist Ken Sherman will be event co-chairmen. For more information, call 852-7483.
BAZAAR: St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 3275 Elmwood Ave., Town of Tonawanda, will host a Christmas Bazaar from 10 a. m. to 2 p. m. Saturday. AUTUMN STAMP FESTIVAL: The annual Autumn Stamp Festival will take place from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. Saturday in Pvt. Leonard Post Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, 2450 Walden Ave., Cheektowaga. DRIVER’S COURSE: A state-certified six-hour point-and insurance- reduction course will be held from 8:30 a. m. to 3 p. m. Saturday in Room 218 of Duns Scotus Hall on the Daemen College campus, 4380 Main St., Snyder. The course will allow each applicant to receive 10 percent off collision and liability auto insurance for three years and remove up to four points from a New York State driver’s license.
