SABRES FALL WINE FESTIVAL: The Buffalo Sabres Alumni and their wives present the sixth annual Sabres Alumni Fall Wine Festival starting at 6:30 p. m. today in the pavilion of HSBC Arena. Guests will mingle with former Sabres, enjoy wine tastings from more than 15 wineries from New York State, Canada and beyond, live music from The Pathe and CJ Sound, a silent auction and food from local restaurants. Tickets are $60 and are available at the HSBC Arena box office at hsbcarena. com or by calling 845-8788.

GHOST TOURS: The Iron Island Museum is hosting ghost tours at 5:30 p. m. Friday and at 10:30 a. m., noon, 5 and 7 p. m. Saturday at 998 Lovejoy St. Cost is $5 per person. Walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are suggested by calling 892-3084.

LUNCHEON LECTURE: Jordan Levy, chairman of the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corp., will speak at the next session of Working for Downtown’s Brown Bag Lunch Series from noon to 1:30 p. m. Wednesday in the Central Library’s West Room at Lafayette Square. The event is free and is open to the public. An optional box lunch is available for $10. VETERANS FAIR: The Erie County Veterans Service Agency will host a Veterans Opportunity Fair from 10 a. m. to 2 p. m. next Thursday in the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, 153 Franklin St. The event will provide veterans education, employment and business opportunities, while ensuring they are aware of the benefits available to them. GENESEE HISTORY TALK: Genesee County Historian Sue Conklin will share the history of the old County Home at 7 p. m. next Thursday in the Genesee County Park and Forest Interpretive Nature Center, 11095 Bethany Center Road, East Bethany. Call (585) 344-1122 to register. Cost is $5 per person or $10 per family.
