Budget hearing set for Nov. 4
Updated: August 21, 2010, 2:32 AM
HANOVER — A preliminary Town of Hanover budget will be presented during a public hearing at 7:15 p. m. Nov. 4.
Details of the spending plan were not available during a meeting of the Town Board on Tuesday meeting.
Town Board members set the public hearing at their regular meeting but said that the new budget has not been revealed to the town clerk or board members. Copies are expected to be available soon in Town Hall.
Supervisor Kathy Tampio was absent from the meeting because of a death in her family.
Deputy Supervisor Richard Slawson ran the session, but neither Slawson nor Town Clerk Janine Salzman had any details about the plan.
In other matters, a public hearing on fire protection contracts with Forestville, Perrysburg and Irving will be held at 7 p. m. Nov. 4. Each of the contracts includes a 5 percent increase over three years. The contracts are for homes in Fire Protection Districts 1 and 2.
Frank Barrett, manager of the Sunberry Mobile Home Park, requested a reduction in the park water bill and asked for an extension to pay the current bill. He said the park experienced five major water line breaks in the past year resulting in excess water charges.
He also asked that the park be included in the water district and not billed separately. He said that each home in the park is metered and that residents are responsible for their own water costs.
A public hearing on a law that would provide some tax relief for veterans of the Cold War era will be held at 7:40 p. m. Oct. 26.
