Jan. 11

• A garage door was forced open and a John Deere lawn tractor was reported stolen from First United Methodist Church on Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls police reported. A church official told police the tractor, valued at $1,350, was removed from a two-foot opening after the garage door was forced open. The garage, which is at the rear of the church, also sustained $250 in damage, police said.

• Two men were stopped for smoking marijuana in a vehicle and were each found in possession of three grams of marijuana, Niagara Falls police said. Asad R. Hixon, 19, of Dudley Avenue, and Terrell D. Thomas, 20, of Spruce Avenue, were each charged at 11:15 a. m. in the 2200 block of Niagara Avenue with fifth-degree criminal possession and unlawful possession of marijuana, and were additionally charged with restricted use of alcohol after an open bottle of liquor was found on the floor of the vehicle, police said.

Jan. 12

• A snowblower was stolen in the 600 block of Chilton Avenue, Niagara Falls police said. The owner told police that his chain-link fence was cut and the 24-inch snowblower, which had been covered and stored under a pool deck, was taken. Loss and damage were estimated at $800.

• A Newfane resident said a dark-colored pickup entered her yard in the 6300 block of Hatter Road and then sheared the base of a metal yard light, causing $120 in damage at 7:40 p. m., sheriff’s deputies reported. Deputies said that tire tracks showed that a truck, heading east, had gone off the road, hitting a snow pile, then drove across the driveway, stopping in the resident’s front yard, just short of hitting a tree.

• An Olcott woman told sheriff’s deputies that her purse and two bags, which she set on her driveway at the edge of Jackson Street, were damaged when hit by a passing car. A laptop valued at $100 was damaged.

Jan. 13

• A National Grid supervisor reported a damaged fence and the theft of a $350 roll of copper wire in Wheatfield, sheriff’s deputies said. The supervisor told deputies that an employee had put an 80-pound roll of coil copper reel inside a locked fence in the 6600 block of Walmore Road Jan. 11 and that a section of chain link fence was found cut at 10 a. m., and the copper roll was gone. Damage to the fence was estimated at $200.

• A stop for an obstructed license plate on Lincoln Avenue in Lockport led to charges of driving while intoxicated against the driver, sheriff’s deputies said. Zachery M. Shero, 21, of Ridge Road, Medina, was stopped at 2:39 a. m. and appeared impaired, according to deputies. Shero registered a blood-alcohol level of 0.13 percent, deputies said, and was charged with DWI and a license plate violation.

Jan. 15

• A 2005 Chevrolet was stolen from the parking lot of a Robinson Road apartment complex in Lockport, sheriff’s deputies said. The owner told police the vehicle was taken sometime after 11:30 p. m. Jan. 14 The car was valued at $7,000.

• A purse snatcher grabbed a woman’s purse while she dined at a Niagara Falls Boulevard pizzeria just before 5p.m., Niagara Falls police said. The thief walked into Just Pizza and grabbed the purse off a stool next to the table where the victim, a LaSalle-area woman, was eating. He fled out the door and was chased by a store employee, who lost the suspect between buildings on Krull Parkway, police said. The victim told officers the purse contained a digital book reader, a debit card and other items worth a total of $375. Officers are checking several surveillance cameras in the area to try to identity of the suspect.

• A Lockport girl was found passed out in a restroom at the South Transit Road McDonald’s restaurant about 2:30 a. m., according to sheriff’s deputies. She was accompanied by two other teens who reported that the victim had been drinking large amounts of vodka at a Rapids Road house party. The girl suffered a head injury from an incident at the party, and was taken to Eastern Niagara Hospital for evaluation. Hospital officials told deputies the girl was so intoxicated that she could not spell her first name. Police were attempting to determine the location of the alleged party. No charges were filed.

• A man was found lying in a large pool of blood, and bleeding profusely from cuts to his wrist and upper arm, about 1:30 a. m. on Maple Street in Wilson, sheriff’s deputies said. A 24-year-old female resident of a house on the street told deputies the man stayed with her occasionally and that they had been drinking rum before he went outside to smoke a cigarette. While outside, he inexplicably put his arm through a window at the apartment, causing his injuries, the woman said. The woman’s two young children, ages 2 and 3, were removed by their grandmother due to the blood and broken glass at the scene. No charges were filed.

• A motorist driving a vehicle with Virginia license plates was stopped for speeding on Niagara Falls Boulevard in Wheatfield and also charged with driving while intoxicated, sheriff’s deputies said. Philip Puccia, no age or address given, was stopped at 3:26 a. m. on Niagara Falls Boulevard near Errick Road and charged after deputies said he had trouble steadying himself, walking and answering questions. Puccia was charged with DWI, driving 70 mph in a 50-mph zone, and failure to keep right.

Jan. 16

• A Dunkin Donuts employee in Wheatfield was charged with petit larceny for stealing from the cash register and taking a soda without paying for it, sheriff’s deputies said. Morgan M. Dier, 18, of Shawnee Road, Wheatfield, was charged after her employer said she had taken a total of $80 on three occasions, as well as the soda, deputies said. Deputies said she admitted she took money from the register and told them, “Everyone takes pop.”

Jan. 17

• A thief who stood in line to pay for a$66 bottle of vodka at City Market Wine&Liquors in Niagara Falls changed his mind. “Sorry guys,” he said, before running off with the vodka. The suspect, who got into a blue Ford Taurus being driven by a woman on 18th Street, was described as Hispanic, in his 30s, and wore a light blue hoodie under a brown jacket.
