Barker schools receive $36,000 to study merger

BARKER—The Barker School District will receive $36,000 in state money to study the feasibility of consolidating with the Lyndonville School District in Orleans County, the Department of State announced Tuesday.
Both districts have fewer than 1,000 students.
In a news release, Barker Superintendent Roger J. Klatt called the concept of a merger between Barker and Lyndonville “a viable option.”
Barker’s Local Government Efficiency Award was one of five across the state.
