NIAGARA FALLS—The city has hired a Niagara Falls Housing Authority maintenance superintendent as its new engineer, Mayor Paul A. Dyster announced Thursday.

Thomas B. Radomski of Lewiston was selected from a pool of 22 candidates by a seven-member committee, which included department heads and facilities personnel from Niagara University and the University at Buffalo. Radomski, who has a New York state professional engineering license and has been with the housing authority since 1995, will start in his new position Jan. 25, Dyster said.

Radomski, who was introduced at a news conference, has been superintendent in maintenance and modernization at the Housing Authority since July 2001. He will be required to live in Niagara Falls under the city’s residency requirement and has already begun the process of moving, the mayor said.

Radomski, who has been a part-time associate professor at Erie Community College since 1994, is a member of the Navy Reserve and recently served a tour of duty in Iraq.

Ali A. Marzban was fired from the city engineer post in September.
