Robber with a record sent back to prison

LOCKPORT—A Niagara Falls man with a criminal record dating back 25 years was sentenced to one to three years in prison Friday for robbing and beating a man who had just withdrawn money from an automatic teller machine.

Ezekiel E. McKenzie, 45, ofDStreet in the Cayuga Village mobile home park, had admitted to a reduced charge of attempted third-degree robbery.

The victim in the $160 theft Sept. 4 on 19th Street in the Falls was knocked off a bicycle. He suffered a broken nose, torn tendons and ligaments in his wrist, and took 10 staples in the head and four stitches over the eye, Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Sperrazza said.
