Amused judge sends pot grower to jail
Updated: July 31, 2010, 6:31 AM
LOCKPORT—Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Sperrazza said Friday she found the story of a marijuana grower’s arrest “amusing” as she sentenced him to a year in the County Jail.
Bradley A. Miner, 23, of Quaker Road, Somerset, was arrested Sept. 23 by his probation officer on her first visit to his home after he went on probation for a misdemeanor criminal contempt charge.
“It took 20 minutes for him to open the door, because in that time he was stuffing the plants into trash bags, which he put on the roof,” Sperrazza said in court. About a pound of marijuana was seized; Miner admitted to a reduced charge of attempted second-degree marijuana possession.
