A series of officially sanctioned chess tournaments is scheduled for Sunday afternoons during the next four months in the cafe of the Central Library at Lafayette Square in downtown Buffalo.

Sponsored by the Archangel 8 Chess Academy and led by certified chess coach Michael A. McDuffie, the tournaments will be held from noon to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, March 25 and April 29.

Players of all ages and skill levels are invited and should expect to play three to five games.

U.S. Chess Federation members should bring their own chess sets and boards, plus a digital chess clock.

A limited number of chess sets will be available with advance notice at registration. Registration should be made at least a day before the game date. Players should email their full name, phone number, school, grade and USCF number, if available, to arcangel8chess@yahoo.com.
