A Buffalo man was sentenced to 30 days of time served, two years of supervised release and six months of electronic monitoring after his conviction on a federal charge of sponsoring an animal in an animal-fighting venture, U. S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr. said Friday.

Edward “Boo” Bishop, 49, entered his dog in a dog fight in June 2009, Assistant U. S. Attorney Aaron J. Mango said. Bishop wagered and won about $4,000 on the fight. He was sentenced by U. S. District Court Chief Judge William M. Skretny.
