A New Hampshire man honeymooning in Niagara Falls, Ont. was rescued Friday evening after he fell down a steep embankment just above the Horseshoe Falls, Niagara Parks, Ont. Police Service officials said today.

The incident was reported at about 7:20 p.m.

The man, a 43-year-old tourist from Londonberry, N.H. was apparently trying to take a photo of the falls when he fell about 10 feet down into shallow water about 200 yards from the Falls. The tourist, himself a paramedic, fractured his right leg in the fall.

Parks officers climbed down to the water to help him. They observed he seemed fatigued as well as injured. Niagara EMS assisted officers in extricating the man who was admitted to Greater Niagara General Hospital.

Police added that the injured honeymooner was seen "apologizing profusely to his new wife" after he was rescued.
