Members of the aviation safety advocate group Families of Continental Flight 3407 will travel to West Virginia and Minnesota to hold news conferences in support of the FAA Reauthorization Bill.

Wednesday, the group will hold a noon news conference in Charleston, W. Va., in the home state of Sen. Jay Rockefeller, chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee. Thursday, the group will hold news conferences at Duluth International and Chisholm-Hibbing airports within the Minnesota congressional district held by House Transportation and Infrastructure Chairman James Oberstar.

The FAA legislation includes provisions that would increase training requirements for pilots and establish a database for pilot training and flight records. The group will be accompanied by Jeff Skiles, co-pilot of the 2009 “Miracle on the Hudson” flight and an advocate for stricter licensing requirements for commercial airline pilots.
