Department heads and other nonnegotiating personnel in Kenmore will receive a 2 percent increase in their salaries for the 2010-11 fiscal year.

Village Mayor Patrick Mang said the move, which the Village Board unanimously approved at its Tuesday meeting, is an affordable one since a 1.66 percent tax increase was approved in April.

“Basically, we’re mirroring what the unions usually get in their contracts,” Mang said. The increase does not affect benefits for nonnegotiating personnel, he said, as “that all remains the same.”

Kathleen P. Johnson, Kenmore’s clerk and treasurer, said most other village employees, such as paid firefighters and clerical staff, are covered by collective- bargaining agreements. Contracts for those workers are under negotiation.
