Instead of adopting a 2010-11 budget Tuesday night, as intended, the Ken-Ton School Board made plans to continue working on it until the last day possible.

The state deadline for budget adoption is April 23. The board plans to meet for a budget vote on the 22nd.

Board members are awaiting information from administrators that answers their questions regarding staffing. They should have it in hand later this week and plan to discuss it at a meeting scheduled for Monday.

School Superintendent Mark P. Mondanaro advised the board to wait as long as possible before adopting a budget.

Though the current $148 million proposal accounts for an anticipated $5.1 million reduction in state aid, the superintendent said there is talk that state legislators might restore some of it.
