Some burglars made out better than others over the weekend.

Buffalo police made arrests in two break-ins. In a third, the burglar escaped, but the victim says she knows the perpetrator — a former boyfriend wanting his gifts back.

In two other burglaries, the victims, including one who was asleep on the sofa the entire time, have no idea who took their valuables.

Sharp-eyed officers investigating a report of a suspicious person near Erie County Medical Center at about 9 p. m. Saturday spotted Gerald Williams, 41, of Deerfield Avenue, in a Maple Ridge Avenue driveway, pushing a snowblower that police say he had taken from the garage. Williams was charged with petit larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal trespassing, police said.

In the Clinton Street-Jefferson Avenue area, officers investigating a reported burglary at 5:30 a. m. Sunday on Mary Johnson Boulevard said they discovered a kicked-in front door, then spotted Dantonio Simmons, who age and address were unavailable, running out the back door.

After finding a camera and pills in his possession, officers charged Simmons with second-degree burglary, petit larceny, criminal mischief, unlawful possession of marijuana and criminal possession of stolen property, police said.

Other burglaries remain unsolved.

A resident on Royal Avenue, a few blocks from Riverside Park, said someone entered through unlocked front doors during the early hours of Sunday and took a video game console and games worth $740. The victim was asleep on the downstairs sofa at the time, police said.

A Lisbon Avenue resident who lives near Veterans Affairs Medical Center told police someone entered her home Saturday through a rear window and took a DVD player and video game console.

A woman living in an apartment building on Michigan Avenue near Sheehan Health Network told police she suspects a former boyfriend Sunday took a 42-inch television set worth $1,400, a gold necklace valued at $700, a bracelet worth $600 and computer speakers worth $40. The woman said the former beau had given her the items when they were dating.

The burglar, she told police, has been calling and texting her against her wishes since their breakup.
